Why do I need to get my harness and lanyard inspected?
  • it is a legal requirement.

  • It ensures that your safety harness and lanyard are safety compliant

  • It maximises you and your employees safety
How often do they need inspecting?

     At a minimum thy need to be inspected every 6 months.

     Depending on the use and environment where the harness is used, it may need more frequent inspection. For example, if you handle chemicals, work with      high heat or other harsh conditions that put extra wear on a harness.

     Inspections that lead to certification needs to be carried out by a competent person

  • Safety Nation will carry out a thorough examination of your harness and lanyard. 
  • Your harness will be returned to you with a report i line with the requirements of Safety, health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. 
  • If any FPE fail an examination, the report will detail the reason for this. 
What happens if my harness fails an inspection?
  • If your FPE does not meet the required standard of safety, then it needs to be discarded.
  • The disposal needs to be recorded. 
  • You need to make sur that it cannot be brought back in to service.
